A German translation of Valerian. Or, the Virtues of that Root in Nervous Disorders; ..., by the British apothocary and botanist, Sir John Hill (1716?-1775), first published in 1758. Valerian has been used since the Middle Ages as a mild sedative to aid sleep and reduce anxiety. After being largely displaced by modern drugs, it has returned to popularity with the rise of herbal medicine in recent decades, in part because it has fewer side affects.
Foxed (not affecting the plates), but otherwise in very good condition. A treatise on the still popular valerian, by a leading English medical botanist.
