Descriptions of Brazil, Columbia and Guyana and their inhabitants, with 2 folding maps and 100 steel-engraved views, from the classic French series that covers the entire world in seventy volumes and with nearly 4000 plates. The title given above, used for the whole series with varying subtitles, appears on the half-title and in the drop-titles to the two parts, while the general title-page gives only the regions covered by the two parts: "Brasil" (by Denis) and "Colombie et Guyanes" (by Famin). The views were produced under the direction of Augustin-François Lemaitre, drawn by Fleury, Vander Burch, Lalaisse and others, some after illustrations in both historical works, like De Bry, and contemporary works, like Spix & Martius, Debret and Prince Maximilian of Wied-Neuwied.
In very good condition. A classic work of South American topography, with 100 steel-engraved views.
