A doctoral thesis on vegetation in the Kazan region of Russia, a small lake-filled part of southern Siberia, on the border of Kazachstan, listing 658 species in a Linnean botanical classification. It was written by Åberg under the direction of Wirzén (1812-1857) a leading Finnish botanist, traveller and physician who travelled in Russia between 1832 and 1835. The thesis is generally catalogued under Wirzén's name. The title-page is printed together with the last leaf, so that they serve as a wrapper around the main quires.
With a marginal tear in the title-page, but generally in very good condition, and preserved unbound and untrimmed (with the bolts opened, but with all deckles intact and the point-holes clearly visible). The quires have not been sewn but side-stitched, with the title-page and last page wrapped around them. Some leaves are slightly foxed and the deckle edges slightly frayed. An early work on Siberian botany.
