Schwerdt (1862-1939) was a passionate book collector who first started collecting books on all sports and later narrowed his collecting down to the sports of hunting, hawking and shooting, resulting in the collection displayed in the present catalogue. After his dead in 1939, the collection containing printed books and manuscripts, was sold in four auctions at Sotheby's in 1939, and two more in 1946.
In fine condition, with the pages untrimmed and only a few very minor marginal stains. The binding very good, with only the corners a bit worn. No. 289 of the beautifully illustrated catalogue of Schwerdt's collection on hunting, hawking and shooting, bound by Kelly & Sons.
