First edition of the first detailed report of the voyage of the Beagle, published three years before Darwin’s Journal. The article was communicated by Sir John Barrow (1764-1848), Secretary of the Admiralty and founder of the Royal Geographical Society. Darwin's name is mentioned on a number of occasions: on p. 329 Barrow notes Darwin's opinion on the direction of motion of a shock wave resulting from an earthquake.
In very good condition, with a library stamp in the margin of two pages, and with the following article (Charles Hügel, “Notice of a Visit to the Himmáleh Mounttains”, pp. 343-349). Very good copy of the very first detailed report of the Beagle's voyage.
