| Orders and Information | € 2155 |
Rare, comprehensive numismatic work with list of valid currencies in the Southern Netherlands. The depicted coins come from Castile, Aragon, Portugal, Milan, Florence, Rome, Mantua, Savoye, Austria, Tyrole, Hungary, Bohemia, Poland, German fiefs and cities, Danemark, France and of course, provinces and cities in the Low Countries. Sometimes the value in other currencies is added. The work opens with the title-page, the verso is blank, followed by an introductory page. On fol. 2v through to fol. 144v contain illustrations on both sides of six to thirty-four coins to a page. The present work is therefore very comprehensive.
The Carte Ov Liste appeared simultaneously in Dutch (Bibl. Belg. I, 418). The printer Verdussen regularly printed currency lists for the imperial government. Such lists are rare. The Bibl. Belg. lists only two copies and there is one copy in the British Library.
Leaf C: skillfully repaired tear; edges sometimes shaved, with sometimes loss of printer's signature, sometimes with loss of illustration; final pages unobtrusive wormholes, very slightly affecting illustration.
Very good copy of this rare currency list.
