Paris, Librairie Hachette et cie, 1906. Imperial 4to (33 x 25 cm). 2 volumes. Title-pages in red and black, with a colour-halftone frontispiece, reproductions of 3200 historical playing cards (956 in colour), dozens of other plates (some in collotype), and hundreds of illustrations in the text. Some illustrations are printed in colour, but many are hand coloured. The original wrappers and many of the plates show numerous different colours (some more than ten), and some include gold and silver. Original publisher's pictorial wrappers.

Jesu Christi D.N. Novum Testamentum, sive Novum Foedus.
(Geneva), (Henri Estienne), 1582. Folio (34.5 x 22 cm). Text in 3 parallel columns giving De Bèze's Greek text, his Latin translation from the Greek, and the Latin Vulgate, with extensive commentary at the head and foot. With the large Estienne woodcut publisher's device on the title-page, 8 woodcut head- and tailpieces plus numerous repeats, and about 20 decorative woodcut initials (4 series, 1 including Greek) plus numerous repeats. Contemporary, richly blind-tooled pigskin over wooden boards, in a panel design (front and back board the same) with a panel-stamp portrait of Johann Freidrich II (1529-1595), Duke of Saxony (with monogram MB), and three rolls (1 with initials CS). With a 1780 owner's inscription of Johan Heinrich Wepler and earlier and later indications of provenance.

Amsterdam, Paulus van Ravesteyn, 1659. 24mo in 8s (11.5 x 5.5 cm). French-language metrical psalmbook with miniature diamond-head music notes (the 5-line staff measures less than 3 mm), title-page with a woodcut of King David, 2 woodcut tailpieces, 1 woodcut decorative initial letter and a decoration built up from fleurons. Contemporary French(?) red morocco, richly gold-tooled boards and spine (à petit fers), gilt edges, headbands in white and blue-green, lacking fastenings. Lacking 2 leaves of the 4-leaf confession of faith (wholly lacking in some copies).

(16 x 9 cm). Printed in red and black throughout, with Marchant's nearly full-page woodcut publisher's device (2 unicorns & "ILM") on the title-page, 12 nearly full-page woodcut illustrations for the months of the calendar, 44 full-page or nearly full-page woodcut illustrations plus 3 repeats (mostly 10 x 7 cm), 2 slightly smaller (7 x 5 cm) and about 34 much smaller (2.5 x 2 to 5 x 4 cm). 26 of the large blocks are signed "IM" for Jehan Le Marchant. Further with more than 100 decorative woodcut initials from several series (12-33 mm), hundreds of 1, 2 and 3-line uncial initials printed in red. Set in 2 textura types with many words or passages in red. Printed on vellum. Gold-tooled calf (ca. 1800), marbled endpapers, gilt edges. With the armorial bookplate of and a genealogical inscription by Edward Paston (ca. 1782-post 1826) of Norfolk, grandfather of the 7th Baronet Paston-Bedingfeld.
