ESSENTIAL PRIMARY TEXT FOR CALVIN'S REFORMED DOCTRINE
Leiden, Franciscus Hackius [printed by Johannes and Daniel Elzevier], 1654. Folio (37.5 x 24 cm). Calvin's Institution of Christion Religion, with a biographical sketch and other additions by Théodore de Bèze. Title-page in red and black with an engraved publisher's device, a woodcut headpiece, tailpiece and 11 decorated initial letters (3 series) plus several repeats. Contemporary gold-tooled vellum with the coat of arms of The Hague in the centre of each board, (slightly later?) morocco spine label, ties lacking.
