A very rare imprint narrating the triumph of the Spanish vessels, lead by Vicente de Argote y Cordoba (ca. 1660-1726), over the Moors at the Golf of Cartagena and Alicante. Exceedingly rare, we have been unable to trace any copy at Spanish institutions, or in WorldCat.
The work begins tellling how, on a Sunday 25 of November, Don Vicente de Argote y Cordova, Quatralvo of the Spanish vessels and Governor of the Fleet, that "como andava pirateando un Navio de Moros en aquella Cofta, faltando en tierra, y corriendo la gente que avia en ella" [a Moorish ship was pirateering in said coast, jumping to land and chasing the people in it]; to arm five vessels: the Patrona, San Miguel, Santa Ana, Soledad, and San Joseph -each vessels Captain being identified. Follows the succesion of events leading to the capture and destruction of the moorish vessel, narrated with captivating prose "acreditando las Armas de fu cargo, affegurando las coftas, y quitando tan perniciosos Cofarios, Enemigos de la Fe" [crediting the arms at his command, securing the coasts, and removing such pernicious Corsairs, Enemies of the Faith]. The Moorish corsair was Arraez de la Saetia, a pirate for over 30 years "que el Arraez de la Saetia, ha mas de treinta años que es gran Corsario, y siempre se ha exercitado en el Corfo".
