First edition of a work on the relation between the Republic of Venice and the Persian Empire (present-day Iran), focusing on their diplomatic and commercial relations, written by the Italian historian and politician Guglielmo Berchet (1833-1913). It contains valuable information on how goods from Asia, like spices and silk, were transported to Venice via Persia. Included at the end are transcriptions of related material, mostly state documents and letters, dating from 1463 to 1718.
