Collection of 36 portraits of counts of Holland, Zeeland, and Friesland, kings and emperors, described in Latin verses by the 16th-century lawyer Michiel Vosmeer. Among the nobles in this work are not only Philip of Burgundy and king Philips II of Spain, but also Jacoba van Beieren, countess of Holland, and Maximilian I, the Holy Roman Emperor. All noble men and women are depicted in an engraving facing the verses by the Dutch publisher and engraver Philipp Galle (1537-1612). Also included is a table with the counts of Holland and Zeeland from 903 to 1549.
With an inscription on the first endpaper. Some stains on the vellum, at some pages a light waterstain in the lower margin, otherwise in very good condition with fine impressions of the engravings.
