€ 1,700
Only known copy of a beautifully bound French almanach for the year 1763, accompanied by many popular songs. The survival of the present almanach is extremely rare, as we have not been able to trace any other copy from the same year and only one set of similar almanachs for the years 1757-1762 at the Bibliothèque nationale de France.
The present work is a charming miniature almanac, which contains - besides the usual calendar for the year 1763 - several songs, mainly love songs, but also bacchic songs and "les plaisirs de la critique". The last three pages contain a bookseller's catalogue of other contemporary French almanachs.
The title page and the last page show some slight colour offsetting of the pastedowns, some occasional minor foxing. Otherwise in very good condition. This edition not in Grand-Carteret; STCN; WorldCat; cf. WorldCat 470104514 (a set of the same almanachs for the years 1757-1762 at the BnF).
