The present one was compiled by Cassiano (da Macerata) Beligatti (1708-1791) and edited by Giovanni Cristoforo Amaduzzi (1740-1792), the director of the Propaganda Fide press. The alphabet is printed in the Tibetan type. Cassiano da Macerata was sent on a mission to Tibet in 1738.
