Interesting study on the indigenous races of Australia, written by the physician and anthropologist Paul Topinard (1830-1911). It was presented on 15 February 1872 to the Société d'anthropologie, in the name of the Commission permanente pour l'Océanie. ''This elaborate memoir will be read with great pleasure by all who take an interest in the aborigines of Australia. The most important [of Topinard's conclusions] concern the typical differences presented by a comparison of the aborigines among themselves, and those which relate to their connection with other races'' (C.S.W.).
