Manuscript compilation of 21 Dutch poems, collected and copied by Anthony Brummelkamp (1811-1888), theologian and one of the leading figures of the Afscheiding of 1834, the orthodox secession from the Dutch Reformed Church. Brummelkamp studied theology at Leiden and became minister at Hattem, where he joined the movement initiated by Hendrik de Cock (1801-1842). The poems, mostly of edifying character, include works by C.P.E. Robidé van der Aa (1791-1851), J.W. IJntema (1779-1858), E.A. Borger (1784-1820), H.A. Spandaw (1777-1855) and H.F. Tollens (1780-1856), the latter represented by three poems. Also included is A.J. de Bull's (1823-1888) Vader Bach, a poem on Johann Sebastian Bach.
The binding is in good condition. The leaves are somewhat browned, the title page is slightly frayed, with a tear in the lower margin. Otherwise in good condition.
