€ 2,100
Rare treatise, proposing a new mineral paste for making artificial teeth and dentures, which would be much more beautiful, lasting and "perfect" than those made of any materials previously used. The author also gives a short survey of dental protheses of the past, and adds advice for caring for one's teeth, for both adult teeth and milk teeth. The title-page notes that De quelques conseils sur la conservation des dents (a separately published and perhaps more extensive version of the second work in the present edition, noted on the title-page) is available from the authorin Paris. Although the present edition has no imprint, it was apparently also available from him. The title-page has a few words set in 2 sizes of slab-serif capitals, and the title page and some interior pages also have a line set in small sans-serif capitals.
With 2 leaves (bound slightly crooked) shaved at the foot of the fore-edge (with the loss of 1 or 2 letters at the end of the last 4 lines on the rectos - no loss on the versos), otherwise in good condition. Crowley 1049; David 89; Poletti 56.
