First German translation of a beautiful instructive emblem book by the Jesuit Reinzer (1661-1708), curiously mixing science and philosophical politics, including moral lessons. Quotations from scientists and classical philosophers accompany beautiful emblems with meteorites, flying dragons, lightning, comets, rainbows, fata morganas, earthquakes, underground fires, minerals, metals, etc., with references in the margins and allegories of politics and public life and wise lessons drawn from them. Wolfgang Josephus Kadoriza or Catoriza was a painter, active at Linz between ca. 1697 and 1730.
