First edition of a work on the artillery of the French army, written by Heinrich Otto de Scheel, officer in the Danish army. It deals with the "artillerie nouvelle" following the changes made in the French army in 1765. The first part of the book deals with these changes individually, commenting on new regulations for the artillery during sieges, offence, defence, campaigns, etc. The second part sets out the various objections that had been made against the changes, with comments by the author. The plates depict different types of canons, machinery, siege engines, and more.
With the bookplate of J.K.H. De Roo van Alderwerelt on paste-down. Only a few small spots, internally otherwise in very good condition. Binding rubbed, hinges cracked. Sloos, Warfare 07125.
