It includes 18 full-page tables of illustrations in the first and 200 tables in the second volume, highlighting the work of Persian artists from the late antique period of the fifth and sixth to the seventeenth century. The work presents the development and techniques of Persian-Islamic art from manuscript illumination with its intricate calligraphy to depictions of botany and historical events and people.
