First German edition of Simon Stevin's (1548-1620) Van den Driehouck-Handel, originally published in the Wisconstige Gedachtenissen (1605-1608), augmented by the translator, Daniel Schwenter, with axioms on spherical angles by the German mathematician Bartholomeus Pitiscus. The second part consists of tables for sine, tangent and secants by Johann Praetorius. Stevin's writings are respected for their versatility, their ability to combine theory and practice, and the clarity of his argument. Name stamp on endpaper; slightly waterstained; a few wormholes.
