Answer to a question of the yearly prize contest, offered in 1789 by the Amsterdam Geneeskundig Genootschap (Medical Society) operating under the motto Servadis civibus: weather there would possibly be more simple, cheaper and local medicaments, even for severe diseases. The positive answer by Evert Jan Thomassen à Thuessink appeared to be the fifth answer - under the motto Non fingendum aut excogitamdum, sed inveniendum (Baco) -, winning the silver commemorative medal (second prize). Offprint from the Handelingen van het Geneeskundig Genootschap, onder de zinspreuk Servandis civibus (Amsterdam, Petrus Conradi, 1789, vol. 13, part 3, pp. 855-1118).
Untrimmed presentation copy, according to the inscription "Van den auteur" on the first endleaf. Spine gone, with exception for the spine label. Otherwise in good condition. NNBW, IV, cols. 1306-7; BMN, I, p. 375.
