First and only edition of a work on Muhammad Ali (1769-1849), Pasha of Egypt, written by the Austrian diplomat Anton Prokesch (1795-1876). From 1824 onwards Prokesch was active in the Middle East, surveying the region and negotiating in various conflicts. In this work he describes his activities during these years especially those relating to Muhammad Ali, for example the peace treaty between Muhammad Ali and the Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II, where Prokesch was present.
