Added are two finely executed manuscript frontispieces, both with hand-coloured coats of arms: the first showing the arms of the Bishop of Utrecht together with those of the five collegiate churches of Utrecht; the second displaying the arms of the Province of Utrecht and its five principal cities. The first part, devoted to the history of the bishops of Utrecht, is illustrated with 41 hand-coloured manuscript coats of arms of the bishops of Utrecht, distributed over 35 leaves. The section on Utrecht castles, manor houses, and nobility contains 237 hand-coloured manuscript coats of arms on 37 leaves. With a large folding engraved map of France, 3 astronomical and cosmographical figures on 3 engraved plates, a large folding hierarchical "tableau synoptique" of French grammar, and numerous numerical tables and mathematical equations in the text. Contemporary richly gold-tooled, grained green morocco, each board with the large arms of the dedicatee, Marie Thérèse de France, Duchesse d'Angoulême, daughter of King Louis XVI: a crowned double coat of arms (each in an oval) in a wide border of fleurs-de-lis and tulip-like flowers, the dexter arms (of her husband) that normally used by the Duc de Berry, but also by the seconde maison Capétienne d'Artois and the sinister arms (of her father Louis XVI) matching that of the Kings of France, pink silk endleaves, gilt edges. With an elaborately decorated letterpress title page, the letters of the title are highlighted in blue, red, gold, and silver, and are surrounded by a contemporary hand-drawn, hand-coloured, and highlighted in gold and silver floral frame (in the same style as the other floral borders in this work) including equally decorated arms of the Echeniques y Aguirres family. All text is set within woodcut borders incorporating the family's coat of arms, the borders show two different floral designs which are repeated throughout the work. All borders are vividly coloured by a contemporary hand and highlighted in gold and silver. Contemporary elaborately gold-tooled red morocco, sewn on six supports with the corresponding raised bands on the spine, the gold-tooling is built up from numerous impressions of small (pointillé) tools creating a large intricate centrepiece within two detailed frames, gold-tooled board edges and turn-ins, marbled pastedowns, and gilt edges. With 390 coats of arms (plus another 49 blank shields) of which 13 on vellum, all but 25 contemporary hand-coloured of which 17 painted with gold and 1 with silver and all but 3 drawn by hand. Mostly all coat of arms are captioned in brown ink in contemporary 17th- or 18th-century cursive hands, in which also the sometimes added manuscript text (on the same or another leaf) is written. Padua, 22 February 1662. Ad 1: ca. 24.5 x 19 cm.; ad 2: 12.6 x 20 cm.; ad 3: 47 x 45.5 cm.; ad 4: 46 x 29.3 cm. Ad 1: with the beautifully hand-coloured painted oval portrait of Lucas Walkier in a laurel wreath, facing his coat of arms, both within a hand-coloured and heightened with gold floral border. This is followed by the neatly calligraphed text in dark brown ink and highlighted in gold, written within frames of double gold lines. All written and drawn on vellum. Ad 2: a hand-coloured and hand-drawn coat of arms, captioned below in manuscript: Walkier. Ad 3: a broadsheet (folded, printed text within ornamental woodcut border: 30 x 45.5 cm) with the blind-stamped seal of the "Natio Germanica" in Padua, and 4 engraved coats of arms (ca. 7 x 6.5 cm) printed in the four corners.
