Printed on vellum in red and black throughout, with illustrations printed from (mostly metal?) relief blocks: 17 nearly full-page plus 1 repeat, 27 small plus 2 repeats in the text, many additional small in the decorated border pieces that surround nearly every page. Devotion in pocket form: a rare 18th-century Dutch miniature psalm book.

[BOOK OF PSALMS]. Het boek der psalmen, nevens de gezangen bij de hervormde kerk van Nederland in gebruik; door last van de hoog mog: heeren staaten generaal der Vereenigde Nederlanden, uit drie berijmingen, in den jaare 1773. Gekooren, met de noodige daar in gemaakte veranderingen.
Amsterdam, heirs and widow of J. Ratelband and J. Bouwer, 1781. 3 parts in 1 volume 32mo (8 x 5 x 3 cm). With a full-page engraved frontispiece showing David playing his harp in the clouds, the title is set within a frame built up from typographical ornaments, and with music notation in the text. Further with the (woodcut) stamp of the city of Amsterdam, together with a manuscript signature of Johannes Jacobus Kessler ("J J Kessler") in brown ink, at the end of the "acte van consent" on A1v-A2r.
